Cub Scout Training
Training for Cub Scout leaders comes in several parts, most of which can be completed in the comfort of your own home, on the internet at www.olc.scouting.org
Step 1 | This is Scouting
an online workshop that gives you a little history and overview of Scouting as an organization.
Step 2 | Fast Start
Pick the Fast Start that is right for you (Den Leaders, Cubmaster, Committee...). This will give you the info you need to get through your first couple of Den meetings. Online at www.olc.scouting.org
Step 3 | Youth Protection
This is the BSA's child abuse recognition and prevention training for all adult volunteers. Learn to recognize the signs of abuse, how to respond when you learn a child is being abused and how to ensure that abuse does not take place at Scout meetings and activities. Online at www.olc.scouting.org
Step 4 | Job Specific Training
A three hour workshop lead by experienced Cub Scout volunteers that you'll have to attend, within the first month of volunteering. View Course Schedule
Step 5 | Outdoor Training
Every pack needs at least one adult who is Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) certified, an 8 hour workshop on how to plan and conduct safe camping trips: Webelos leaders need to complete an overnight outdoor course (Webelos Leader Outdoor Skills), that teaches the latest in outdoor skills, fire building, basic first air, knot tying, knife safety...
