The Good Scout Award Dinner
February 2, 2012
The Good Scout Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the spirit of the Scout Oath and Law by helping others and doing their best at all times. This prestigious award honors those whose personal and public contributions enhance our community and the world in which we live. This award is also the Lincoln Heritage Council of the Boy Scouts of America highest honor for corporate businesses and organizations.
The 2012 Good Scout Award honoree is Paul Diaz and Kindred Healthcare.
Why Paul Diaz? Why Kindred Healthcare?
Paul Diaz , the CEO of Kindred Healthcare, a company which positively impacts hundreds-of-thousands of patients, medical professionals and staff every year, is an inspiration . He's a magnetic preence, an Eagle Scout, and one who truly lives his beliefs .
Paul grew up in the boroughs of Miami in a single parent home. He became involved with Scouting at an early age and found strong role models and mentors in his Scout Leaders. Paul himself attests to the positive influence Scouting played in his life. It shaped his character and the Scout Oath and Law became creeds by which he lives. He has achieved outstanding personal and public success because he's lived the life of a "Good Scout" - by being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. He grasped these positive values, combined them with ambition and wherewithal, and has become a constructive, charismatic leader for family, friends, coworkers and community.
Paul takes a personal interest in area at-risk youth through his generous support of Hispanic Scouting, which without Paul's support, would not exist as it does in our region. Prior to Paul's involvement, Scouting reached less than 50 Hispanic families in the area. Now, through Paul's direct support, over 800 Hispanic families are directly inspired by the positive influences found in the Scouting movement.
Reflecting its leadership, Kindred Healthcare , the largest provider of post-acute healthcare services in the United States, has contributed millions of man-hours, dollars, and professional expertise to its mission- driven charities -- the Alzheimer Association, American Lung Association and American Heart Association. Kindred Healthcare encourages its employees to truly "make a difference" through their own personal donations of time, talent and treasure to support these and other non-profit organizations. Kindred provides specialized services for patients requiring an extended recovery period through an interdisciplinary team approach and is committed to quality care, community awareness, and worthwhile education.
Why Participate?
The Good Scout Award distinguishes those who go above and beyond superior expectations. It celebrates those who truly make a difference not only because they care... but because they ACT. It's our responsibility and priviledge to recognize excellence.
This award and recognition dinner celebrates Paul and Kindred Healthcare and offers individuals and organizations a chance to share support and thoughts about the man, the company and their positive influence on society.
