Council Awards

The Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award nomination form (No. 523-427)
The purpose of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award is to recognize outstanding services by an adult individual or an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds – this is in fulfillment of Dr. Young’s dream of justice and equality for all.

Scouting Vale la Pena! Service Award (521-193)
The purpose of the Scouting Vale la Pena! Service Award is to recognize outstanding services by an adult individual or an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for Hispanic/Latino youth.

District Award of Merit
The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district. The award is made available annually on the basis of 1 for each 25 traditional units or fraction thereof. The district need not present all the awards to which is entitled each year. It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award. A professional Scouter or other council employee may not receive award based on emplyment service. However, a professional Scouter or employee who serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service.

President's Award
The President’s Award is an award presented to individuals in recognition of outstanding service rendered to Scouting at the District and/or Council levels. This can be through support of activities, events, or programs requiring effort and involvement beyond the unit level. 

Buckskin Award
The Buckskin Award is an award presented to individuals in recognition of outstanding service rendered to Scouting at the Unit level. This recognition is designed to be given to those who show support to the program beyond the normal scope of the position of their prime registration.
