Bishop Flaget Trail on August 13th
Posted July 12, 2010
The 2010 Flaget Trail is the 64th anniversary of this event.
The Bishop Flaget Trail is sponsored by the Catholic Committee on Scouting and the Lincoln Heritage Council.
The Trail includes a short hike and camping for Scouts. The 2010 Flaget Trail is the 64th anniversary of this event.
This year we will visit a site rich in our Catholic Heritage in Kentucky and Indiana. We will camp at the Mount St.
Francis Center for Spirituality in Southern Indiana.
While we do not have advance registration, we ask that you email us at Flagettrail@juno.com or call one of us
with your best “guesstimate” of the number of possible attendees from your unit. We can return a registration form
via email for you to fill out before arriving at Mt. St. Francis to expedite the registration on site. Registration forms
will also be available at Mt. St. Francis.
After the trail on Saturday, an afternoon of fun activities is planned for those who chose to participate.
Adult Counselor Training will be offered for both Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII at 2:30 p.m.
We look forward to seeing all participants. We especially invite all Cub Scout units and families to participate, as
this will make an excellent summertime family activity. Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and families are
welcome to participate in the trail on Saturday morning. Please take into consideration the time to travel to Mt. St.
Francis. It takes approximately thirty minutes from the KY Fair and Expo Center area to Mt. St. Francis.
Day hikers should arrive by 8:30am. (Please plan accordingly)
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER and all Scout Units MUST file a Tour Permit.
The Flaget Trail is not limited to Catholic units or boys; many units are represented that are sponsored by
churches or institutions which are not Catholic, but wish to participate in a day visiting a special area of unusual
interest. Non-denominational services are held at camp if desired. We welcome all Scouts, leaders, and families.
