About the Lincoln Heritage Council
"Our mission is to achieve excellence in fostering the character development, worldwide citizenship, and the moral, mental and physical fitness of young people, and in other ways prepare them to make lifelong ethical choices by instilling the values found in the Scout Oath and Law."
One of 310 local councils in the country, the Lincoln Heritage Council is charged with administering the Scouting program in 19 Kentucky and 6 Indiana counties.
The council was formed in 1993, when the Old Kentucky Home Council and the George Rogers Clark Council merged. The council is headquartered in Louisville.
Specific services include:
- A service center and two Scout Shops where leaders may purchase books, badges, and other Scouting supplies.
- Two camping facilities, the Harry S. Frazier, Jr. Scout Reservation and Tunnel Mill Scout Reservation.
- A wide range of council-sponsored activities, including Scout-O-Rama and summer camping programs.
- Support for the Venturing program, Scouting's young-adult division.
- Special programs, including Operation First Class and Sports club for urban youth and Scouting Unlimited for young people with disabilities.
